Terrible ONE’s??

Y’all. Is “terrible one’s” a thing? I need help! My son is 1 and he throws full tantrums (lays out on the floor and cries) when he doesn’t get what he wants and I do not know what to do. Can anyone share what helps? Also, please do not suggest to spank my son. Thank you 🙏🏽❤️

Just going to leave this here. Op if you give timeouts this is what I follow and is the common rule when giving timeouts to toddlers.

Just don’t give into him. Let him throw the tantrum. Pay it no attention unless he’s hurting himself. If he’s hurting himself I’d say wrap him up in a bear hug until he calms down. 
My son(23 months) throws tantrums for not getting what he wants so he just doesn’t get what he wants and has to calm himself down. If he throws a tantrum out of frustration (can’t get his shoes or pants on) I tell him to calm down and ask for help. I don’t help him until he’s calmed down and come to me for help. He usually calms right down and brings me whatever he needs help with. If he’s throwing a fit because he doesn’t want to hold my hand while walking, he goes in the stroller. 
A lot of it just depends on what the tantrum is over.

I believe in spanking only if they do something like touching the stove type deal. I will put him in time out and say firmly stop falling out. And he does self soothing for up 20 min. If he's having a full meltdown at first he needed the full 20. Now he only needs about 5 to get himself together and come back its hard though

We don’t want to spank either, so we’ve put a lot of effort into talking things out, even when our son was under a year old. He’s 2 now and calms down so quickly when we talk things out now. A short time out is effective for tantrums as well. That’s actually really the best way it should be used- a time for the child to implement self soothing. Instead of it being a punishment. But all this stuff takes time and honestly your child sounds normal for his age. Hang in there and continue creating good habits

Since stupid ass cunt bitches wanna talk and tell me how to raise my kid this is what I do. 
When my kid is throwing a tantrum I make him stand up and sit on the couch for exactly 3 minutes. If he continues I talk to him calmly and tell him he needs to calm down and try to let him play cocomelon on his tablet. But only if he calms down so its rewarding the calm down. 
As for self soothing I do up to 20 min. We check on him and pick him up every 3 to 5 minutes and reasses why he's having his meltdown. I no longer need the full 20 minutes he gets his alone time and bounces back within 3 to 5 minutes now without us even having to come do multiple reassessment.

It’s still terrible twos it can start before they turn two my son started before his birthday. Not much you can do other then be consistent.

Yes terrible one is sometimes worse than terrible twos ... I would let him throw the fit ... kids will not listen until their fit is over. I’m sure he is frustrated from not knowing how to communicate what he wants. Does he get more attention when he is throwing fits? Maybe instead of asking what do you want you start giving him two options to choose from that you think is what he wants... good luck lol boys are fun!!!
