How do you work out your bra measurement?

Question

I’ve never actually been measured properly for a bra. I just guessed a size when I bought my first ever bra and have bought sizes up or down throughout my life and sort of hoped for the best (there have been MANY badly fitting ones 😂) 
I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant and just don’t feel like my bras fit properly. There’s so many different ways online to measure that come out as different sizes! 
What’s the best way you’ve found to measure yourself that gives an accurate size?

When I wasn’t pregnant I went to VS and was measured
Keep in mind though different styles fit differently and different companies
When pregnant you will need to frequently upsize as you grow so don’t go all out and buy a ton maybe just a few as this will help with pregnancy and postpartum
Go into a mommy store and ask them to measure you and give you different styles based on what your seeking... extra support, underwire/no underwire, something that will grow with you (expanders)

When I was measured at VS, they said 38C. Turns out I was 36DD. They didn't have a clue.

I've worked in a lingerie store and measured women daily. Still miss that job! 
I've found that there are some differences between brands though, so what fits you well for one brand might not be the most comfortable for another. Also shape is just as important as size when it comes to comfort. 
When pregnant women didn't want to go through the whole hassle of getting fitted I usually took a bra size that used to be comfortable but now isn't anymore due to the pregnancy, and then I'd go one size bigger. 
Say 34C used to be comfortable, then I'd take 36C. Both the waist and the cups are then bigger. If you feel you just need more space around the waist but not bigger cups, I'd take 36B (same 'volume' as a 34C, but with a looser waist).

Measured myself using a bra that fits guide on Reddit. I got 32C but I've been wearing a 34 AA lol. I tried it on and it fits amazing 🤷 that being said, my boobs are tiny. The 34AA doesn't fit me too bad just depends on the cup shape. Don't let the cup size scare you because trust me no one would ever think I'm a C cup, myself included.

I have found that different brands have different sizes and usually I went to shop and asked them to measure me. During covid, they don't offer that service in my area, so I measured myself and ordered online. 😃 (I have always liked in person shopoing, I can try things there and know if I want it, no hassle with returns).
