Why does she give me a stiff arm when i feed her?

My 5 month old will stretch out her arm and push against me while im BF her. She ends up tugging on me until i release her arm. What in the world is that about?

My 7 week old does that to try and stimulate more flow. It was weird because he sometimes shoves himself off my nipple which is a little counter productive. When he starts pushing I hand express a bit to assist while holding his head in place. Not sure if that is the same thing for your older babe.

Is she nursing while doing so? If she still feeds it may just be a quirk. She doesn’t realize she’s pushing off you. If she’s not continuing to nurse or fussy she may need to burp.
