Genital HSV1

Hi everyone,

I was just diagnosed with hsv1 on my vagina. I had one sore and I got it checked out, and that’s what it was. I know my ex had HSV1 orally, but we were tested together and I didn’t have it then. We continued to have sex so I’m not sure when I contracted it. I haven’t been with him in 6 years, is it possible for the virus to lay dormant that long? Is it triggered by stress? Also, how do you go about disclosing to future partners? Anyone else out there with GHSV1?
