Baby won’t feed herself

My daughter is 9 months old. She has an oversized tongue so we weren’t able to do BLW at 6 months due to choking. We were strictly purées until she turned 9 months a week ago.

I’ve started with soft mushy foods and puffs. She LOVES puffs lol but she will not feed herself.

She will grab the food and play with it but won’t bring it to her mouth. She leaves her mouth open and waits for me to feed her or tries to bring her whole face to the plate.

Is this just something she’ll learn if I keep putting food in front of her? What else can I try to promote her to feed herself?
