NIPT/NT testing? - ultrasound questions

I go December 21st for my testing and they didn’t go much into depth of what they actually do .. they did say I will have an ultrasound that day but will they show me when they’re doing it? And is it transvag or on the stomach?

I just had my NT scan today.  It was an abdominal ultrasound and after the tech was done the doctor came in and when through all the photos with me in detail.  We also got to see the baby in 3D which was a first for us!  Good luck!

It’s probably the NT scan. The NIPT test is just a blood draw. You can look up what the NT scan looks for, but basically it just measures the thickness of the baby’s neck. Apparently there is a correlation between that and Down’s syndrome.

My NT ultrasound was through the abdomen, so you have to have a full full bladder. If they end up needing to do a transvaginal scan for images they will ask you to have an empty bladder

I just had my NT scan yesterday morning. Abdominal, go in with a full bladder. Drink 20-32oz of water by an hour before your appt as I was advised. Should be quick if baby is in the right position (on back and face viewable)- ours took a little longer because Beanie wasn’t cooperating 😅 She had to pound on my uterus a bit to get it to wake up from napping and position on its back 😆 then it was covering it’s face with its arm 😅 As another commentator stated, the neck(?) fold is measured. What I didn’t know is they look for the nasal bone as well as can be an additional risk indicator.

Should be " stomac", they can also do it vaginaly if they don't see something clearly.
