Sushi while pregnant???

Question

Can I eat sushi? I know I am not supposed to eat raw fish but I am craving it sooo bad I want to cry. 
7th month pregnant. 
Any suggestions what to eat instead for the cravings to go away? 
I feel like I might start crying like a baby because of it. My husband thinks I am being ridiculous 😞

You can eat sushi. You can also eat raw fish (sashimi), it just can’t be fish high in Mercury (you can google them). So avoid sushi with those fish. There’s rolls with absolutely no fish, and cooked fish, as well. Just make sure- like any other place- that the restaurant is clean and there’s no bad ratings for health. I’ve had sushi a few times both pregnancies and my doctor has never been concerned.

It depends on how careful you want to be. In the book Expecting Better by Emily Oster she does a survey of medical research on this topic and found no evidence that eating raw fish was more substantially harmful when preggo than when you’re not pregnant. She said same w raw eggs. The most dangerous foods for pregnancy she found that had studies that actually backed it up were those that cause toxoplasmosis (raw/rare meat and poultry & unwashed veggies and fruits) and listeria (raw milk cheeses, deli Turkey) because they can actually be damaging to the baby.

I’ve been eating California rolls! They’re not as good as a tuna or salmon roll, but they do help satisfy my cravings a bit! Just make sure you order from a nice restaurant so there’s no cross contamination.

It just depends what kind.. imitation crab is fine....and smoked meats should be fine...as long as your not eating sashimi which is literally raw fish you should be okay
