Late and scared

The last two months my period has been regular and right on time but this month was different ... I got a normal period in early November then on the 28th and 29th I woke up feeling wet and when I went to the bathroom to clean myself up there was very light blood... after that nothing now it's the 2nd and my period was supposed to come today but it didn't.. how long should I wait before I test. We have been trying to get pregnant for at least 6 months and I dont want to be disappointed again
