COVID-19 worker rant

I just need to vent and I don’t know where else to do anonymously except Reddit. I am so sick of people denying that Covid19 is either real or as bad as we say it is. Yes, it is as bad as we say it is. It is not the flu! Two different viruses and this one could’ve been engineered - that’s a controversy and we just don’t know. There were only 22k deaths in USA from influenza and there have been over 200k this year alone from Covid19. It is nasty and destructive and causes more problems than just pneumonia. It also increases your clotting factors and so a lot of our patients are throwing PEs, stroking out, going into DIC, etc. If you don’t even know what some of that means, that alone should mean that your insensitive and inaccurate comments about Covid19 shouldn’t be entertained. We are TIRED. Yes, only a small percentage of people get very ill and/or die but think about how many people that actually is. Think about 1% of your population number filling up hospitals combined with everyone else who needs a hospital bed. That is actually a LOT of people and that is why we are running out of beds, staff and equipment. I just don’t understand why people think we are lying. NO ONE ever questions police officers or military personnel when they say their job is emotionally and physically exhausting, potential to cause long term effects on a persons mindset but they question it when people are cycling people through, putting them in body bags and accepting a new one all in the same day without any time to process? I’ve put two in a body bag these past three days. Compressions on two others who weren’t my patients. All of them were Covid! It’s not only respiratory failure. This virus is killing people’s kidneys and they are on continuous dialysis which is a 1-on-1 patient and there isn’t enough staff doe that. We are pairing these patients now. Rant over.
