Squirt but No Orgasm?

So last night I was with a guy I've been seeing for a while, and while he was fingering me, apparently I squirted. I say apparently because to me, all it felt like was suddenly my legs were wet, and he gave me a very happy, aroused look.

When I asked what the face was about, he said "Nothing, I just like making you cum." To which I replied, "...You didn't?" And he said "Um, you just squirted, so..."

I've never squirted in my life, so that was incredibly weird to me, but based on the wet spot on my blanket, I definitely did. But I've also always been under the impression that squirting is a certain type of orgasm, and I definitely didn't feel like I came. I've seen other women describe it as a release of pressure and things like that, but it didn't feel like that to me either. It didn't really feel like anything, except that I was being fingered. If he didn't tell me, I wouldn't have known anything had happened, I would've just thought I got super wet.
