How and when did you start to put your baby on a schedule?

My baby is a month old and I don’t know where or when to start

I try to keep a very very loose schedule with my one month old. As in wake up around 7:30, baby wear for a few hours in the late afternoon, bed time routine around 6:30. Anything that happens between those times are fair game for now lol

We naturally fell into a routine and schedule when my son was about 4 months or so.  We still had to be adaptable to all the changes, sleep regressions, growth spurts, leaps, teething, etc.  All of those can disrupt a schedule.

With bedtime we did right away. But besides that your baby will develop their own nap and feeding pattern and you will start to pick up on it. But you have to be aware that it constantly changes as baby grows. You have to be flexible. But bedtime is very consistent for us starting right away.

At two months and a half we started a night routine. It has been awesome. We wanted him to be asleep at 8 because we have online Japanese clases. Last nap ends earlier than 6:30 pm so at 7pm he got a bath, then we put on the pjs, said good night to our dog and dad, and went nursing ( even if he had nursed not long ago). I leave him drowsy but awake and the crib and he sleeps soundly until it's time to est again. Then he eats and goes back to sleep right away a few times through the night until 7 am.

Baby naturally fell into schedule. We followed wake windows. She started daycare at 5 months and transitioned to their schedule very easily. That’s the schedule we follow.

When he was 2 weeks old but only a simple one at night that I can add to as he gets older 
Starts at 7pm 
Wash him down/ or bath him if he needs one or it’s bath day 
Massage body with bedtime oil (smells like lavender) - paying close attention to the feet stomach and face 
Clean nappy 
Fresh pjs/sleepsuit
Bottle 
Read a book

Don’t expect consistency especially with sleep till baby is closer to 6 months. Naps were not predictable till the length of nap was more consistent. 
Bedtime generally gets more predictable around 8-12 weeks. But even that slowly shifts around based on naps for several months. Probably month 8-9 was when we hit the solid 7:30pm bed time and that hasn’t changed and he’s 2.5 now. 
However, from the beginning I did a nap routine and a bedtime routine. It’s morphed or the years to replace nursing and add teeth brushing but practically it has stayed the same.
