Help with discipline

Ri

Hey there other May 2019 parents. Wanted to hear how others are doing with discipline?

We use a ton of redirection in our home. Working on helping our toddler find and use his words. I implemented time outs this weekend as a last resort.

So we have three loving cats and our son can get to aggressive with them. We never allow him to hurt them however the cats literally follow him around. One cat particular is obsessed with our little toddler and our son can get to aggressive with petting and it can fastly turn to a hit. We don't tolerate that. But I am also outnumbered by 3 pets and a toddler and redirected my son's behavior isn't working. We started 1 min with timer time outs for this.It seems to be working. Just I didn't think I would be doing time outs so early on.

We are due with a baby in April and I really need to get a handle on aggressive petting before then. We are focusing a ton on "gentle" and "nice touches" but the only thing that seems to get the point across is to put him in time out. I am super worried about him hitting the baby and or hitting a cat and me not seeing it to stop him.
