Birth Control

I have recently had an IUS (mirena) fitted and have been using the combined pill alongside it. I am now experiencing severe cramps, spotting and had a pelvic infection.
Should i only be using one method of contraception, would it decrease my cramping or is it okay to stick with both?

Depending on the pill you are on they could clash with each other, or there's a possibility it's just to much for your body to handle both and it's just fighting it, I would lay off one or the other but talk to your doctor about it if you are concerned

I personally stopped taking the pill once I got my iud put in.. I still had cramping and constant spotting but I'm going on to month six and it's starting to clear up. M best advice would be just to choose one or the other.. Not sure if it's healthy on your body to use to different types of "hormones" on your body..

I haven't of people taking pills while they have an IUD before but obviously, I'm not a doctor so I can't say much about that.I think you should consider a call to the doctor if it's getting worse. You do not want an infection to get out of control down there!

Did your doctor tell you to take both....?You definitely need to check with your doctor if you've got an infection.

They gave me the pills first then fitted the IUS afterwards. They are aware that i am taking both forms of contraception and havent told me to stop taking one. I have been given antibiotics for the infection but the cramps seem to be getting worse.
