Repeat Csection? Or fight for VBAC?

Question

So I’m 25 weeks and 1 day.. 
A little info: My first born was born 2 weeks late, my second born was born at 37 weeks, and my third was born at 38 weeks. With my 3rd, he was born by emergency csection. I have high risk pregnancies and my csection put me in an even worse bracket for high risk (at least that’s what I’m being told). 
I honestly don’t know what to think because I never thought I would have a c section. I know it sounds stupid but I honestly thought if I followed my doctors advice through pregnancy then I’d never need a csection. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂 
Here’s my question: What are your thoughts/experiences/advice? Should I just have a repeat csection for this baby too or should I fight for a VBAC? I’m honestly scared either way because my csection was my first ever surgery and i am allergic to half the epidural so the experience was plain awful and terrifying. BUT I’ve done a little research and now I’m terrified of everything that could go wrong in a VBAC... 😭😭

A planned c section is a whole different experience. I have had 2. They went super well and I healed quickly. This is just me: if my doctor said I was high risk and I had to have an emergency c section with my previous, I would opt for a repeat to be safe. From what you described, sounds like most doctors would recommend that since you have complications. If you are really wanting a VBAC you can get a second opinion but I’m not sure with your history it would necessarily be recommended. Good luck!

I had a vbac and really enjoyed it. My first child was born via csection my second was a vbac.

I don’t have advice for choosing, as I didn’t want a vbac, but I can say that from all I’ve heard an emergency c-section is horrible, and my non emergency one wasn’t bad at all. It was a longer healing process, admittedly, but it wasn’t as traumatic, painful, or as long to heal as an emergency one from what I’ve gathered. I chose a second cesarean without hesitation, as my first baby was one, and I don’t want anything to go awry and have to have an emergency one.

Ask your doctor if you could be a great candidate for the VBAC. 
My cousin’s doctor told her no although she actually met the requirements for one. But they told her no because they didn’t do them where she lives. 
She went into labor at work and gave birth in the ambulance. When they arrived at the hospital the doctor was shocked she gave birth on her own. Where she lives is the middle of the country in Alabama and they only stick to the same old school aspects of pregnancy and no one performs VBACs period. I fought for her to continue to ask because I knew she could do it since I attended her last birth and post c section they told her she was a prime candidate for one as long as she waited in between pregnancies. 
She preferred the healing of a vaginal since she could function as a mom. 
Ask your doctor at worst they say know at best they say they will let you labor until they have to intervene at all.

I’m high risk. My first child was born emergency c section. Went on to have a VBAC and a vsginal  birth and pregnant with number 4. I would fight for a VBAC if your doctor would do one. The recovery was so much better for me

My dr put my information into an algorithm that gave a percentage for likelihood of a successful VBAC. Mine was at the high end (there’s never 100% likelihood), but I still went with a repeat section to avoid an emergency section because of a blood clotting disorder I have, which makes emergency surgery even more dangerous.

My older sister had a very successful VBAC, she went 2+ weeks over due date and was induced. she found a practitioner who was VBAC friendly and even though she went well beyond her due date they still let her do it! She did it without epidural also!! 9lb baby boy and no tears!! I suggest you find a practitioner who will support your VBAC choice if that is the route you choose!! Best of luck dear!!!
