How can they tell how far along you are from a blood test ?

So I got a positive test 2 days ago and I’m 10 months pp and have irregular periods last one I had was 2 months ago. I called and told them that and they had me go in yesterday to get a blood test to see how far along ? Does this mean imgonna have to go get another blood test done to compare the levels or will just this one blood test be able to tell them how far along ???

They can estimate it based off the hcg levels

They’d make a guesstimate off of your hcg levels. Then when they did your 1st ultrasound, confirm it.

Blood tests can’t really tell how far along you are. Based on my first test my levels had me at 7-40 weeks pregnant. Only a dating scan can tell you how far along you are.

But they really can’t estimate based on hcg levels....look at the graph someone posted. The ranges are so huge with each weeks and so many weeks overlap. They shouldn’t be relying on hcg as an indicator of how far along your are. Your first ultrasound will confirm, but the first day of you LMP will give you an idea of what your due date is.
