Are pacifiers a newborn necessity and if they are is there a certain brand that’s better?

Answer

Definitely not a necessity, but they can be helpful for sleep training because the allow your baby to self soothe. My dentist also likes pacifiers because they prevent your baby from getting in the habit of sucking their thumb, which is bad for developing teeth. I’ve also heard they can help prevent suffocation if your baby happens to roll onto their tummy. Also, if you breastfeed the pacifier can give your poor nipples a break. 
Most hospitals give Soothie pacifiers, but my son preferred MAM pacifiers. It’s trial and error, just like finding a bottle that your baby likes. Good luck!

They aren’t a necessity, some babies don’t ever use them, my daughter used them for a few weeks and then never again, you can live without them. These are the ones I got for baby #2. I like that they’re one piece so no changes of mold or condensation on the inside.

My son took a pacifier only hours after being in the recovery room. 
He loves these. We have tried other brands and he favors these for whatever reason!

The hospital gave us one and I had several different ones I got it all the sample boxes I got. It was nice to rest out several with our buying any. These ones my baby liked best. She also liked the nanobebe ones too

We never used them but this is the brand our hospital gives you if you want to use pacifiers and the ones they recommend. Up to you if you use them or not..we choose not to but know a lot of people who use them. Not a necessity but just whatever works.

These are the only ones my boy will use, he had a hard time holding pacifiers in while he was a newborn. Not nessasary but sure helpful if your baby will take one.
