How often do you fight in a marriage?

It seems my husband and I have been fighting a lot lately. Where do you draw the line? Any stories about your worst fights? How did you get through it. We are newlyweds and could use some advice from people who have a lot more years on us.

Our worst fight happen when we started talking at one another instead of talking to one another. 
We both felt the same, not heard. We both wanted the exact same thing but didn't stop to listen. 
He slept on the couch that night and I stayed in the bedroom. He left for work that morning and I texted him later that day asking if we could talk when he got home. He agreed. 
We set down and really listened to one another and when we did we realized how ridiculous we were being. How if we would of just stopped and talked to each other before, none of that would of happened. 
Some people will tell you marriage should be easy as newlyweds and that you shouldnt be fights. But once you get married it's different, at least for us. We were tackling living with someone else for the first time together as well. It took adjusting, but I can honestly say we have always been happy. Theres never been a fight where I thought, okay he is going to leave. All of our fights have been fixable. I'd honestly say we have had more "disagreements" then fights. 
Another example is I came from a single mother home and he came from a two parent home where there was a "man of the house", that was something we had to navigate together. 
Financials were also something we had to navigate together on. 
It's okay to fight. To have disagreements. You wont always "go to bed happy" and that's also okay. We always say we love each other though, even when we have a fight.

We have only been together 7 yrs but it feels like a life already we have gone through some major spats yelling wars, doors slamming at times of stress we argue alot more but on the usual once a week over small shit then get over it. We have been through alot together alcoholism (he won), two surprise babies with in a year, aniexty, depression. Eplispy diagnosis, 2 moves. Life happened so fast, we take good with bad cant have one without the other, we dont sleep apart mad or not, we dont walk out the door we leave the room. We don't drag old arguments up when its done it's done

1. Choose your battles. 2. Ask what's the root cause? More than likely your fighting over is about something more serious. It's never about the toilet seat being left up, it's about your insecurities or worries. Communicate and learn yours and his love language....I've been married for 10 years
