Is the depo shot scary as women make it sound?

Never been on birth control but I’m considering it. Between depo shot and the Patch. I considered the Ring too but I don’t think I will put it in right

I look at depo as a last resort method because it can’t be stopped. If you don’t like it, you’re stuck with side effects until the hormones run out of your system. Even then, it takes 3 months for the hormones to be gone but it can take up to 18 months for the side effects to stop or for your cycle to regulate. There is no anti-Depo (for whatever reason, though I think there should be), so I’d take precaution with it. Statistically speaking, it’s the least liked method (compared to iuds and implants that are the most liked). Every other method (besides sterilization obviously) can be stopped or removed if you don’t like it. I’d go with something different first. Definitely talk to your doctor and do actual research (reading anecdotal reviews is not research, just other’s experiences).

I don't know about the shot. But I suggest you try something that you can stop or take off just in case you react badly to the hormones. With the shot once the hormones are in your body you can't get them back out and will have to wait till the effects finish.

Don't do the shot. It's not worth it. I've done the pill, iud, nexplanon implant,nuvaring and now the depo shot. Honestly, my favorite was the nuvaring. I was worried about not putting it in right at first, but it's extremely easy to put in. And once it's in, I didn't feel it at all. My husband could never feel it during sex. 
I also loved the IUD, but my body would eventually reject it and push it out after about a year and a half. Very frustrating.

The shot did not do me any good. I gained 30 lbs in a year. And towards the end I was having major headaches. And when I got off it took me 18 months to get my period back.

I used to take the depo shot in high school. I was always petite, weighed maybe 105 lbs. The shot made me gain about 30 pounds and really screwed with my horomones. Made me drier than the damn dessert (down there) and I broke out profusely on my face. My body is really sensitive to medications but my dr. said id be fine without doing any sort of testing when I told her I react badly to certain things. Make sure you ask about ALL of your options best suited for you.
They inject your bicep and tell you to keep your arm pointed straight down for at least a hour. I could feel a weird tingle in my arm for a hour, almost like I could feel the birth control trickling down my muscles if that makes sense?  The actual shot isnt bad, but my side-effects sucked bad.

The depo was a fucking nightmare for me. Remember it can stay in your system for upto 18months after you have it and you can still get side effects if it doesn’t suit you.

I would never recommend the depo to anyone. It is as bad as everyone says. I bled for 6 months straight with it. I was only on it for 3 months & it took a whole year to get pregnant after.

The depo shot is honestly horrible for ur body, especially the longer ur on it. It’s own manufacturers don’t recommend being on it longer than 2 years due to it’s possible long term side effects. But, truthfully, even being on it less time than that can still cause those effects.... such as loss of bone density, and fertility issues. So, I’d personally stay far away from depo!
