When do babies get water?

We just hit 6 months and I’m curious as to when baby can have water and do you recommend a soppy cup or regular cup? if so which one?
Obviously i will ask at the 6 month appointment but i’m just curious.

Water after or in between meals. Just a few sips if good. I use an open cup, tiny cup from ezpz. They are perfect for their little hands and face :)

Our Dr told us to give an ounce or 2 to help with constipation.

I didn’t give my daughter water until she was closer to one.

A few sips from a sippy cup each time we offer solids! It would literally only be an ounce or so!

My doctor said at the 6 month appointment that I should offer 2-3 oz of water a few times a day. My little one never drinks more than like half an ounce, but it’s helped with her constipation and her diapers are back to being more wet. And so far it hasn’t impacted the amount of milk she’s drinking.
