Nexplanon/Junel Fe

Talked to my ob today over the phone about getting nexplanon. He told me I would have to take Junel Fe (pill bc) for a year. Why? My house was a little crazy at the time I was talking to him so didn’t think anything of it also he used the long term for it so when he said he was prescribing me something I figured it was something that went with getting nexplanon. Did you guys have to be on bc before getting nexplanon? I’m just a little confused. If no information by tomorrow I’m going to call to find out because I really don’t see myself being able to remember taking a pill at the same time everyday. Ughhh
