Anyone thats had a copper coil

Im 28 weeks pregnant and booked on for a c section when im 39 weeks. My consultant talked about contraception after he's born. I can either have sterilization ( 6th child) or a copper coil fitted during my op. We dont think we want more children ( 5 are with ex this one new partner of 6 years his first baby) but sterilization seems so final. But ive heard bad things about the coil. Has anyone had it and its been ok ? Or can they be as bad as they say ?
