My son dropped too much weight before my milk came in and needed the supplementing.  Because of the wishful thinking that he could just wait for my milk to come in, was regretted as he had avoidable issues had we just supplemented earlier.  When we weren’t trying to breastfeed, I was pumping.  Anyway, eventually my milk did come in and we continued to breastfeed and pump.

No cause that is the worst thing to do for breastfeeding. Baby only needs drops of colostrum the first few days.

Yes, nothing wrong with supplementing the first few days or weeks. I had to bc my colostrum just wasn’t enough, milk came in on day 10 with my first baby and day 4 with my second baby. Supplemented with formula because baby was losing too much weight. Much happier baby and mom, fed is best.

Colostrum is milk. 
It may not be the white muture milk most people think of, but it's extremely nutrient dense to make sure baby gets what they need despite how little their stomachs can hold at a time.

You body should be (usually) producing enough colostrum to keep them satisfied until your milk comes in. 🥰
As some one mentioned nursing them is what prompts your milk to really come in. It’s normal for it to take a couple of days to come in.

Don’t do it unless you really need to or if you’re just not wanting to breast feed. After I had my baby I was extremely tired and didn’t have the energy to breast feed the first night while my husband took over. I asked the hospital and nurses if a bottle with formula would mess up him breast feeding, they told me no. I breast fed and formula fed the first 2 months and eventually I just wasn’t making enough milk. I honestly think the formula and bottle is what messed me up. With this baby, I will not be giving him a bottle or formula until he’s a couple months old or unless I absolutely have to. So in my personal opinion I would not recommend doing it if you want to breast feed

My baby lost too much weight and we had to supplement. Nothing wrong with that. I still nurse him as often as possible and eventually my milk did come in and we were able to transition to ebf.
