Tonsil surgery

Hi all, have anyone’s kids had their tonsils out (not just June babies). We had our 6 month follow-up from my son’s ear tube surgery today, and they noted that his tonsils are quite large and he’ll likely need them removed. They said they would wait until he’s a little older, but is large tonsils enough reason to get them out? He doesn’t snore or have trouble sleeping, but is a fussy eater which they said could be because he may have swallowing issues due to their size. I’m not surprised because I had huge tonsils, and actually just had my out three years ago (after too many bouts with tonsillitis and tonsils stones). Getting them out as an adult was horrible so I wouldn’t want to put it off too long for him, but I also don’t want to do an unnecessary surgery.
