Does it have to have blood to be your mucous plug?

I just had a huge chunk of mucus come out but it didn’t have any blood. I’ve been cramping too. Not sure if it’s my mucous plug or not. Thoughts?

It can actually be your mucus plug. If it has blood and mucus it's more likely to be a bloody show. And those are 2 different things. This is just my personal experience with 4 kids though. Everyone's body is different.  However I've lost my mucus plug each time and it was just how you described. A huge chunk of mucus (🤢) but the bloody show always came later when it was both mucus and blood.

It could be! This is my 3rd and seem to be loosing little bits at a time but both times I'm my previous pregnancies I've lost it whole. Like a big chunk of snotty, jelly mucus that is almost clear. Neither time it had blood in at all. In fact I've never had a 'bloody show' and both times my contractions started with in 2 hours of loosing it 😊🤞🏻
