Cousin's baby named Isla, should we still name ours Delilah?

My cousin just named their daughter Isla (pronounced eye-la). The name we have picked out for our baby, should it be a girl, is Delilah. Would it be weird to have cousins born within a month of each other with rhyming names like that? Am I thinking too much into it?

I would never change a baby name I had picked based off of a cousin’s child’s name.

They picked a name they liked, you should pick the name you like! They will only be around each other for a fraction of their lives. The majority of people in each of their lives,  for decades and decades, will know only one of them and won’t be comparing the names to each other.

How close are you to your cousin? If you’re close... probably too similar. But I have cousins I couldn’t even tell you their names! So in that case it wouldn’t matter.

If you like Delilah keep it. If they shorten your baby’s name or could also nickname name her Dee or DeeDee.

I mean, they’re completely different names. So they kinda sound alike? Who cares! Even if they’ll be in the same class at school. I’d keep it if you like it.

Keep it. My husband has a huge family and everyone repeats names. There’s like 3 Michaels, a few variations of Sue, Suzanne, Anne. It’s not really ever confusing even with people having the same names, so I think having names that are just close but not the same is fine.

Just throwing this out there, but what about Delia (pronounced Dee-lee-uh). It is close to the name you have picked, but sounds less like Isla. I have a friend with the name and think it is super cute (BTW also love the name Delilah too!)
