am i being unreasonable about a nose piercing?

hey guys! i’ll try to keep this short and sweet. i am 16, turning 17 in april, and i’ve been toying with the idea of wanting a nose ring (not a septum piercing, just a simple ring on my nostril). i talked with my parents tonight and their reasonings didn’t seem logical to me. my dad was worried about me being judged by people, workplaces, colleges, etc. my mom doesn’t like nose piercings period and so i could tell that her opinion was shaped by her dislike for them.
i’m not really sure where to go in the conversation from here because i feel like their logic only applies to “what if” scenarios, and even though i reminded them multiple times that it’s removable jewelry, they maintained that it would somehow hurt me in the future.
am i being unreasonable or a little blind with emotion? please be honest but not rude :))

To me its just a nose piercing, if they're having to pay for it, i would just wait until you can get it with your own money.

im 13, nearly 14. i have a nose peircing. at first my dad said NO to it. i understood why he’d say it because she wants to protect me, but i explained to him why i want one. then i talked to my mum, she already had one so it wasn’t as hard to convince her. although they weren’t too keen, i explained it was my body and if there was any issues with it i would deal with it myself, pay for everything including aftercare

I had an eyebrow and septum piercing (as well as an industrial in my ear and tattoos) when I was happily employed by a very good company where I still work years later (sorry tech not a teen anymore) . The world is changing. It is about how you present yourself in your speech and actions, your maturity will shine through your piercings (if ya have it). And yeah BEST point is they are removable if it is ever needed. My mom was against facial piercings when I was really young, but by about 15 she actually took me to do my eyebrow. 
 
 And honestly, I'm glad I work for a company that did accept me for how I looked, cuz screw you I am smart and a great worker. If someone IS going to judge you for that, it's nice to know up front so you can just avoid that whole sh*t  🙅‍♀️

In short, get it! They may be mad at first but they can’t be mad forever. If you’re not trying to make them angry just wait another year, 18 isn’t far.

My parents were against piercings and tattoos but I ended up getting them once I turned 18 and my parents didn’t have much of a say since I was old enough to get them my self. I would say wait till you are 18 and yes you can remove them but you have to wear retainers to keep it from closing! Also you have to let it heal so depending where you work or want to some places piercings and tats are still not accepted.

I mean personally, I wouldn’t want a piercing just because it’s my personal preference. I would say wait for a little bit longer till ur 18, but what’s the point 😂 it is your body, you should do what you want- so long as you won’t get in MAJOR trouble for it.
But my friends have done piercings and took them out in the end because they said they ‘grew out’ of it, that it didn’t suit them, or that it was a phase 😂 it depends on the person really. Don’t feel bad about wanting a piercing, it’s pretty normal and nothing wrong about it- its like you dye your hair pink, and u can just reverse it to ur natural colour but not EXACTLY the same- if that makes sense?

It doesn't really affect much I had gotten one with parent permission at 16 and there was no trouble with school or anything I think if you want it you should get it if you dont like it or the employer doesn't allow them you can always take it out.
