Hospital questions!!! Please read!!

So I’m due with my fourth baby in March. We are expecting to deliver early again due to high risk preeclampsia. If we are looking good, we can go all the way to 39 weeks but I have a track record of having to deliver at 36 weeks. WELL. I have a new OB this time and he’s great but not very knowledgeable about hospital rules. But he did say if I am on Magnesium, they will take my baby to the NICU for 12 hours. 🤔 whether she’s healthy or not. The OB said, and I quote “they think you will drop the baby or something, I don’t know, I don’t get it either.”

I delivered twice before with preeclampsia at a different hospital and NEVER did they take the baby cause I was on mag. So here is must question: CAN they take the baby if I’m on Magnesium without my consent? My husband will be with me the whole time after and is FULLY capable of taking care of her with me in our room. NOW please do not be fooled, IF it is MEDICALLY necessary for her to go to the NICU due to health issues related to HER; I would 100% consent. But can I deny this if it’s not medically necessary for her to go?

Also with my last baby, he had underdeveloped lungs so he was transferred to the NICU at this hospital. And he was stuck in there 2 weeks past what he should have because he didn’t gain a certain amount of OZ in 24 hours. So they strong handed us to bottle feed just so they’d let us go. So I do not want to have to fight my healthy child out of the NICU if it come to that.
