How do you heal from things?

If you overheard someone calling you ugly how would you deal with those feelings?

I had a friend we went to a nail salon she had been going there for years the same person would do her nails it was a guy, his coworkers would talk in another language but she knows their language but would talk in English one day she arrived and they were talking telling him hey why don't you marry her have a relationship with her and he said no she's ugly.

It hurt her feelings he said that so much she wanted to cry

She had been coming to that nail salon since senior year high school and in college they talked about how her college was going, he would show her pictures of his wife and daughter's and talk about his life where he came from. Her best friend was from there, that's how she understood them learned the language but she didn't tell them she could understand their language

It felt like a betrayal he could of said he was married or that she's dating someone. But it hurt her that he said that
