Inductions at 39weeks?

Hi y’all, I’m 33 weeks pregnant and thinking about having an elective induction but I like to weigh the pros and cons of everything so I’d like to get some opinions. I have been doing some research on inductions at 39 weeks, and a lot of what I have came across is that babies are ready by 39 weeks and can be born via induction. I also read that it can reduce the risk of csection... this information came from the ACOG, so that being said, how do you feel about it?

Babiea reach term at 37 weeks so do you. I haven't personally had an induction but experiences of close friends and family have been that the induction with the 1st is pretty brutal. Body just isn't ready and they were in labor FOREVER. I'm talking 20-30 hours. I think most of them were able to deliver vaginally but one or 2 maybe ended in c section. They were all based on medical reasons like gestational diabetes, overdue, big baby. Not all bodies are the same though mama so you might have a great experience. No way to know, but in terms of baby, they'll be just fine to come at 39 weeks.

I don’t recommend getting induced. I was with my first and it was horrible. Contractions were more painful, labor was long, made my sons heart rate drop and things ended with emergency c section. Never again.

I think everybody is different. My best friend got induced and said it was terrible. I did an elective induction with my first and it was wonderful.  I slept until it was time to push and first push he was out.  I actually just planned another induction for 39 weeks for this one as well.

I’ve been induced twice. My second was at 39 weeks and I chose to be induced. Both of my inductions went super smooth and were quick. My second induction took 4 hours and baby was out. I’d definitely choose to be induced again.

I was induced at 36 weeks 4 days due to high blood pressure and from start till delivery it took 12 hours. I was given pills to dilate my cervix once I dilated a bit my water was broken and Pitocin was started and everything went very fast after that.

I elected to be induced at 39 weeks with my 2nd child. I was 3 cm dilated when we got started. It took me 23 hours to deliver my daughter. I used the cervidil pill and Pitocin.
It was a long labor but not necessarily difficult. I would still choose to be inducted again if I got a do-over.

Was induced with my third at 39 weeks for medical reasons. I was not dilated or effaced at all but from start to finish it was just over 12 hrs and i was able to get pain relief when I needed it. I would do it again.

I’m 38+3 and scheduled for induction on Tuesday morning if I don’t go into labor on my own before then. I had an “augmented” labor with my daughter where they gave me pitocin and broke my water but that’s because I was already 5cm and 90 effaced but my contractions weren’t regular enough to call it “active” labor. After the pitocin was started, she was born in about 6 hours. The plan this time is similar. My body just doesn’t like to have regular contractions. It likes to do a little at a time and then stop.

I had to be induced with my first and if I can avoid it in this pregnancy I will! Not wanting to scare but it went terribly wrong and they spent hours trying to turn the drip down. It was like being hit with a train of contractions with no breathing room inbetween. It also put my daughter into difficulty and she wasn’t breathing by the time they did get her out. BUT I’m pretty sure mine just didn’t go as it should. However it’s enough to put me off chancing a second. Unless it was medically needed I wouldn’t go down that path.
