Retest?

My period is ALWAYS on time. I took a test the day I was supposed to start and it was negative but now I'm two days late. Should I retest? My first pregnancy I had "normal" periods and never got a positive until I was 6 weeks but it ended in a miscarriage. My periods have regulated since then and this is my first late period in years.
