My job is making me pay for things.
Hi! I was just wondering if this is normal or has happened to anyone before. I was hired 3 months ago at a pre school (in California) and they made me pay for my own background check and fingerprinting ($100). Fast forward I found out that they do not pay us for holidays that are mandatory for us to take off (up to 2 weeks at a time multiple times a year) which would have been nice for them to inform me of. Now today I was approached by one of the owners and they told me that all the employees need to be re-certified in CPR and first aid and the we have to pay for it ourselves. Is this normal that a job makes you pay for things like this? Normally all my other jobs have covered things like this since it is for work. At this point I am out almost $200 for things that they’re making me pay for and won’t reimburse.
I wasn’t sure which group to post this in.
