Virtual baby shower for media illiterate family
My family just does not understand technology. My parents didn’t have cell phones until like 3 years ago. They have never been able to figure out video chat or anything like that. My dad will still go on an hour long rant about how stupid answering machines are even though they haven’t been relevant for years. They honest to god still have an 8-track player. It’s not just my parents, most of my family is like that. They can’t even figure out online shopping.
Anyway, I live on the other side of the country and am not about to travel home while pregnant during a pandemic to have a baby shower but this is our first and we’re really hoping to get a lot of what we need at the shower.
My boyfriend’s family is all very tech literate so a virtual shower shouldn’t be a problem for them at all, but I don’t want to leave my family out because they won’t be able to figure out how to open a zoom link.
I would tell one of my more tech savvy nieces to go to my parents to get them set up, but my parents are both very high risk for Covid and I don’t want anybody going over there.
Anybody else struggling with this? Or have alternative ideas?
