Lotion baby?

My newborn is 8 days old today. Just out of curiosity, when can you start to lotion baby after their bath? Her little hands and feet are looking so dry!

Never. I have 3 kids and I’ve never used lotion. It’s no necessary and all marketing. Don’t over-bathe. If anything I would use coconut oil or something along those lines. Most lotions / soaps are endocrine disrupting.

We used Hello Bello lotion. Their products are all natural and I love them.

We used petroleum jelly and aquaphor on our daughter for a few weeks because that's what the doctor recommended. They say that lotion typically doesn't work on actual dry skin because it is too thin. Her skin was so cracked around her hands and feet that she was bleeding. Now that she's healed and her skin is more moisturized we use dove baby on her after her baths just to calm her down.

My baby is 4 weeks old, I let his skin do it’s own thing! It’s just adjusting to the elements outside the womb! Totally normal!

At a week old I got told we could put lotion on, as long as it's unscented. To avoid lavender as well.

I started putting lotion on my son at around a week old. His little hands and feet were so dry. 
He did well with it and now at 5wks old his skin is no longer dry and peeling.
