speech delay/ not making eye contact/ doesn’t respond to name
my son was born 7/14/19 and his daycare does like developmental report and i was told my son has the following issues. speech delay (he says, “stop” “no” “oh yeah” “dada” and my first name). his teacher comments was that he doesn’t say any words in school. The second comment is that he doesn’t respond to his name. At home he selectively does so. from my observation it’s not that he doesn’t know his name. it’s that he choose to ignore. I agree that he doesn’t make eye contact how he should and I do believe he should be saying more words.
is anyone experiencing this, or have prior experience like this before? what are some tips/ strategies that i can work on with him? i’m going to make an appointment with his pediatrician but I have to wait until to monday to do so.
i’m scared & i feel at fault. I’m a single mom and until he turn like 11months. I was a full time student and i feel now he’s “delayed” because of me and i didn’t give him enough attention. i graduated and now i’m working two full time jobs and I feel heartbroken like i’m failing maybe. google and youtube is saying autism. He did everything early, by the time i took him home from the hospital he was already “crawling” (new born scoot), life his head up perfectly, i got him off the pacifier early, started attempting to walk at 9 months. and it’s heartbreaking to hear he’s not performing how he’s supposed to.
besides those things the teachers listed he does everything he supposed to. he know what shoes / clothes are for. he knows comb is for hair, tooth brushes are for teeth. he play with his toys correctly. knows brooms are for cleaning. what rags are for. he’s very curious, he’ll figure out how things work and move on to the next. he love his blanket
