Job dilemma

Victoria

I am a new mom and I had some issues at my job while I was pregnant, but when I came back from maternity leave 3 weeks ago, I changed to a different position with a new boss. Since then things have been good, but I’m outside of my field of work.

Before I went on maternity leave, I applied to a new company and I just heard back from them that they would like me to start.

The new job is back in my field of work, more than what I make now, and has a verbal agreement to fast track me into management and a certification that will allow a 35% raise in 6-9 months.

I’ve been with my current company for 2 years, but this position for 3 weeks. There is a path to management, but it takes longer. I do owe them money for tuition reimbursement, and they’re a bigger company, but I’ve been told I’m grossly underpaid, but they can’t make more than a 10% jump.

I’m torn because I feel bad for leaving this new position for a new company, but I’ve been talking to this company for months and I feel bad if I decide not to take it after all it’s taken to get to this point.

I really just want to know if anyone else has dealt with this and what factors helped you decide how to make a decision.
