IVF and men... thoughts and advice?
Hello everyone, I’ve just had a lap and they weren’t able to clear my tubes and they don’t know why they’re blocked either. I didn’t expect this- I thought the tubal cannulation would work. But since I’m 39, I’ve very quickly mentally moved on and am now readying myself for IVF.
I asked my partner how he feels about this earlier today and he said he needs to read up on IVF first. And that he finds it hard to understand why they can’t clear the tubes. He says he prefers conceiving naturally for sure (but of course). I asked how long he needs to read up, and he said a week. Then we will go sit with the doctor to ask more questions.
I guess I’m feeling down about this because while I would like him to be as involved as he wants to be of course, and to know about it as much as I do (I pore over all the info every day/ night), so I know that logically, it’s fully reasonable for him to want to be up to speed (I have talked to him about the process and he’s been at an appointment with me where the doctor touched upon IVF).
But the irrational part of me doesn’t understand... because if he’s not on board with IVF but wants children... how do we proceed from here? (We are not looking at adoption.) It’s the only option now for us, so what does he still want to consider? I feel really down about this... is this a guy thing? I’m ordering my vitamins and changing up my lifestyle to be more healthy in view of IVF... is this all for nothing?
