Tooth Infection, 5 Weeks Pregnant

Hi all!

I have a severe infection in a tooth that will likely need to be extracted. I scheduled an emergency appointment to see my dentist tomorrow, but it is my understanding that I’ll likely need a referral/approval from my OB-GYN in order to receive treatment. The problem with this is that I’m only 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant and my OB-GYN will not see me until I’m 8 weeks. Will my dentist be able to prescribe any antibiotics and/or treatment before I’m able to see my OB-GYN?

Any insight/advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
