Is following someone who’s in a relationship disrespectful ?

Hi!

I’m friends with a coworker, a guy, who does music on the side. He has his recording equipment posted on his Instagram. I’m also a musician who was interested in what he used to record his covers. I saw him on my suggest following list and was going to follow, but I noticed he has a girlfriend in his bio.

I’m always hypersensitive to this because I never want to be disrespectful to a relationship or to the girlfriend. Is it weird if I follow him? (He’s a private account).
