Dog losing hair on ears

My dog has been scratching like crazy and he’s losing hair on his ears, does anyone know what this could be? I am saving up to take him to the vet but can’t afford it for a few more weeks! Also I have checked him for fleas multiple times and I haven’t seen any

If there is a brownish gunk inside the ears or if the inside of the ear looks bright pink or red and irritated it’s probably ear mites. Other symptoms may be ear shaking or excessive scratching

You can also look in the ear and probably see the ear mites if you do see them you can smother them with olive oil in the ear

My cat has had fleas twice in the 12 years we’ve had him. He lost a patch of fur on his side and before we knew of the fleas honestly thought he leaned against a candle and singed it. Then, we realized it was fleas and the vet said that happens when some animals get them. I would check them for fleas. Over white tile or white paper run their belly to get dander off them and then wet the paper a little. Flea eggs and dirt will turn a bloody color on the white. Worms often come with the fleas because the animal ingests them while licking when itchy. It’s gross but check their poo for worms. I’d book a vet appt anyway in case it is an infection like some have mentioned.

It looks like a staph infection. With the redness & crusty lesions it’s textbook staph. Does he have it anywhere else? Anyway you just need to get to the vet as soon as you can. It’s shouldn’t cost too much for an exam & the meds needed to clear it up.

Maybe he has allergies. You can give him Benadryl to help. 1mg per 1pound

Just from this picture I can see something on his fur. I would give him a flea bath anyways. Might be mites or something and it would help.
