How many naps a day?

My son is 13 months and he usually takes 2 naps a day but lately has been taking a 2 hour nap the first nap and then really fighting the second nap. Is he transitioning to only 1 nap a day?

Yeah! Sounds like it. It’s a tricky switch over to one nap... what usually works is shortening that first nap (yes waking them up) to be sure they are tired enough to take the second nap. Sometimes it’s too hard for them to make it all the way to noon for an afternoon nap, so until then, just shortening the first nap holds onto that second nap until they can go 4/5 hours in the mornings. Otherwise, they may become overtired if you try and push it.

Oh what I'd give for a 2 hour napping child!
My girl usually haa 2 naps, about 30-1 hour each (more often, about 45min). She is 13 months and has been fighting her 2nd nap as well

Depends one how early my daughter wakes up. If she’s up before 6am she’ll have 2 naps but if it’s closer to 7am and after she’ll take 1 nap.

Mine does both. One nap during the week at daycare. About 2 hours with an early bed time and on weekends two naps. He hasn't been fighting me yet. I think he makes up sleep on the weekend from being really tired from daycare. If your little one has been fighting you for like 1-2 weeks, I would suggest the transition. Start with just extending the wake window by 30 mins
