How common is brown spotting? (6 weeks)

I started spotting brownish/tiny bit of red Thursday evening and ever since then it’s only happened in the AM very slightly and only light brown now and only after I have a BM (sorry TMI!). Is this common for any other ladies here? I’m obviously thinking the worst because I’ve heard in some cases that spotting leads to a MC if it’s gets progressively heavier accompanied with cramps. I called my GP on Friday morning and she didn’t seem concerned and to only come in if it escalated. Hoping for a little reassurance or personal experiences. Thanks in advance 💕
