How often do you think a child named Elodie will get called Ellie throughout her life?

I love the name Elodie, but I am not a fan of Ellie since it is SO common...

I call children by the name they’re introduced as until they tell me otherwise. But not everyone does that for kids. You may have to make a point of it with some people, but not everyone.
Personally, I have to correct people (usually male co-workers) occasionally and tell them my name isn’t “Katie”, it’s just Cait. Weirdly, this wasn’t an issue until I became an adult. When I was a kid everyone called me Cait or Caitlin.

If you commit to not shortening to the nick name (always calling her elodie rather than ellie) that's one part to it. Knew someone whose kid was Alexander, not Alex, because she only called him the full Alexander.
That only gets you so far though. If she decides she likes ellie for a nn you're basically out of luck 🤷🏻‍♀️. My cousin is Elizabeth, but exactly like her parents didn't want, she goes by Liz.
Basically, you can set the tone for family/others to not latch on to ellie as a nn but you can't prevent her from possibly finding/using a nn she likes.

I'm so confused by people's responses to Elodie being a name 😂 I've heard it loads. I've never really known an Elodie going by Ellie, but I guess if she asked to go by it 🤷‍♀️ If you and your parents/in laws call her Elodie though, I imagine she'd go with that more. Not everyone likes nicknames, I hate going by Cass (that being said, Cassie is shortened anyway from Cassandra and I guess that's why it annoys me 😂)

Generally if you never nickname a kid as the parents people will respect that unless it’s child led and she decides she wants to shorten it. 
I have a friend that is a Douglas. No one calls him Doug. His parents never did. He doesn’t introduce himself as Doug. He is Douglas.
