When to tell

Question

Just got a positive pregnancy test today! I was pregnant in January and told my immediate family after 1 week of knowing, ended up being a chemical pregnancy and started bleeding the day after I told them. Now I don't know if I should wait and see or tell them sooner rather than later. And I feel silly making a big deal about it when I made a big announcement last time and it was nothing. I'm really close to my parents and siblings and tend to share everything.

I miscarried the day I told my parents the first time, it was horrible, so I definitely feel for you. When to tell people is different for everyone. We told family only after our first ultrasounds to make sure everything was fine and 12 weeks to everyone else. Best of luck on a healthy baby, 2 of my babies are the month right after chemicals and they are both healthy and fine (2 years old and 6 months old)

I'm only 4 weeks and it's my first pregnancy. I know there's a high chance I could miscarry this early, but i still plan to tell my parents and sister later this week. Most things I read say to wait until 12 weeks, but I just can't imagine keeping something this big from them for that long. Plus, if something bad does happen I would want to have their support. But I know everyone is different and it's personal preference. 
Maybe you could go ahead and tell your parents in a low key way? Good luck ❤️

Personally I tell my close family and friends because if I lose this baby I'm going to be devastated and those are the people who I'm going to need support from. I was happy I had people who knew when I miscarried so I could have their support when I needed it

I think you should tell anyone you’d want to lean on for support if something were to happen. The truth is that miscarriage and loss are common, and a lot of women don’t have adequate support because they were keeping a “secret”. I’m only 5 weeks but all of my closest friends know, as they have been my support through my 3 previous miscarriages.

First, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Second, Tell them whenever you feel comfortable. Your decision 😊 For us, we told at 13 weeks our parents, siblings, grandparents, then told the rest of the family after that. We told friends after 15/16 weeks. Totally up to you whenever you feel comfortable telling. Good luck!

We are planning on waiting until week 12 for family and likely week 20 to tell everyone else.
