can you give a 1 year old 1% milk ?

my baby always had problems with whole milk so my friend said try 1% but i was told not to give it to her are don't give her almond milk by her doctor because it doesn't have enough nutrients ￼￼

As long as you make for the lack of fat in the milk by giving it in other areas of her diet, she should be fine. Definitely talk more to the pediatrician about this though.

They need a high fat diet for brain development which is why most people use whole milk.  My son still drinks breastmilk but other than that, just water.  He also gets an omega supplement and a higher fat diet

What problems? If it’s an allergy or intolerance the % isn’t going to help. They don’t need milk. I’ve heard pea milk highly recommended if you do need/want an alternative because of the nutritional content.

My Ped told me after 1 kids dont even need milk at all really. My son hated milk and his Ped said it was fine he didn't need to drink it 🤷‍♀️ 
It will depend on yoir child's weight tho. My son was big so 1% was recommended

I mix whole milk and a cashew/almond milk for my girly! She’s 19 months and thriving. If your kiddo eats well then it’s no biggie. You can also get healthy fats in other ways. Peanut butter, whole milk Greek yogurt, etc

Maybe try pediasure instead. If you’re LO doesn’t necessarily need the calories, they make a low calorie pediasure that is still packed with all the nutrients your kiddo needs. That might be a better alternative to 1% but I think your best bet would be to call your pediatrician and get recommendations from someone who actually knows their stuff!

We gave our son 1%, and pea milk at that age. All we buy for our home is the 1%.

My first hated milk, the best he would do was drink a little bit of skim milk or almond milk. We talked with his doctor and she said his diet was fine in terms of covering all the stuff he would’ve gotten in whole milk. Talk with your pediatrician.
