Who else struggles to brush their lo’s teeth?

I know I do! Lately I’ve just been letting her brush her teeth on her own because it’s such a fight when I have to do it, she likes brushing her own teeth, but of course doesn’t brush it well enough. Any suggestions on how to get her to let me brush her teeth properly? She’s 19 months btw.

Take turns, sing a song. I used to sit my daughter on my lap facing me and I'd make her laugh so I could sneak in a few brushes while her mouth was open if she was being really difficult.

My 1 year old HATES it. He loves to chew on the toothbrush but hates when we brush them 🤷🏼‍♀️

The only thing that works with my girly is to pretend I see different foods she ate that day. (She’s 19 months too) and now when she opens her mouth she will say cookies, peas, noodles.... I still have to basically sit on her and pin her arms but she doesn’t scream anymore! Progress!

We always held our son to the mirror so he can watch. Or we let him brush our teeth while we brush his.

My 15 month old first watched us brush. then we started just letting her play with her own electric toothbrush while we brushed our teeth. She eventually started putting it in her mouth. Now she brushes until the auto timer goes off.

My daughter’s love language is words of affirmation. So I just compliment her while we brush her teeth and she does really well.

My toddler has a toothbrush and i will have a toothbrush. We take turns brushing her teeth. Books about brushing teeth helped her get interested as well.

We let her do it first and then we finish. Usually a song like the ants go marching gets her in a good enough mood if she's being fussy. Other times I hold her down to do it 🤷🏻‍♀️. It's important to have good oral hygiene so I make sure to get the job done one way or the other

We got one of those firefly toothbrushes that light up. It wasn't easy at first, my two-year-old would cry while we held him and brush his teeth, but it's important to do a good job and they gets used to the routine.
