How much do you pay for extractions?

What’s your typical out of pocket cost for a dental extraction when your insurance covers approximately 80%? (I have called the office twice and they just tell me they’ll discuss it when I am there.) I don’t want to get there and be out a whole lot ya know, I like to know how much I’ll be spending lol. I’m having 2 wisdom teeth extracted.

When I got 2 wisdom teeth out under anesthesia, my insurance wouldn't pay any of it and I believe it was around $1200.

It depends on how bad the tooth is, my husband went to remove a tooth that was super broken into the gum so they had to cut the gum open to remove the piece, that cost about $200. Recently his molar started hurting but had been loose and aching for awhile so this time instead of going to the dentist and although it would have been most likely much cheaper, he decided to go the old school route and used pliers to remove it himself. Yep, I woke up from my nap and he already had tortured himself and confessed he wanted to scream bloody murder but didn’t want to startle me or our son lol. Guess that saved us $80 bucks.

My medical insurance covered my wisdom tooth extraction. Did you have a consultation yet to get them removed? They typically give you the estimate then. I can’t see why they’d wait until the actual procedure because then there’s the risk of them not getting paid properly lol.

$200-$300? I think my insurance covers up to $1300 in dental work each year and once I go over I have to pay out of pocket or a copay, not sure bc I never go over that amount.

They should give you an estimate at your consultation. They won’t give it to you over the phone because they need to see your mouth and talk to you about surgical and medical history.
