My MIL drives me insane. More so over the past year with me being pregnant and having my son.

In the past year she has:

- not acted like she cared about me being pregnant (it took her finding out I was having a boy to even acknowledge my pregnancy)

- did not offer to help/make anything for the gender reveal

- did not offer to help/make anything for the shower

- told me she couldn’t be bothered to take me to a specialist appointment when they though my son was possible IUGR

- many other things throughout my pregnancy

As soon as my son was born she all of a sudden wanted to be involved and acted like she cared. She now invites herself over to my house or will show up unannounced. She asks what size clothes she can buy him and then buys the opposite of what he needed.

She is insisting to my husband that she should be the one to babysit my son when my maternity leave is up but she is morbidly obese, can’t walk without a cane and is already watching my SIL’s daughter who is 8 weeks older than my son. She can barely handle her, how will she be able to do both?

She also has on 3 separate occasions called my son by the wrong name. This past time I was so upset by it that I snapped and said “That’s not his name and if you can’t learn it you won’t be allowed to see him”.

I have tried talking to my husband about it but he feels that I am being irrational and I “just hate his mom for no reason”

Am I wrong for being so irritated with her? It is possible that it’s just my hormones?
