Is Thomas too classic/safe of a name?

We are thinking about naming our son Thomas but I keep feeling like it is too safe and/or not unique enough. I'd like to not have my kid always have other people in class with the same name but we are really struggling to agree on any other names. I do like the trendier names but when I think about calling my son that forever, I just don't picture it!
What are your honest thoughts on the name Thomas?

Can a name be too classic? Thomas is much more of a timeless name. It’s been popular for generations. Literally, hundreds of years. Personally, I always prefer names where you can’t really guess what year or years the child was born in. Thomas is one of those names.

Thomas is a nice name. It’s a family name for me. My great grandfather was Ezekiel Thomas. I have a Uncle Thomas and two cousins Thomas.

My honest thought is that it’s boring. However, you won’t have to worry about there being multiple Thomas’s in his class; it’s not as common these days.

I think it's a super versatile name that can age really well and nn Tommy is really sweet. It's a classic name and yes, possible other kids as he is growing up will have the same name but it's not even in the top 50 for 2020. Go for it!

In the US, Thomas is #47, so not crazy common. He’d know other Thomases, but not a ton of them. (Or if you live somewhere else, you can look up the statistics to check.)
Maybe you could name him Thomas, but give him a cool and unusual middle name, so that you can sort of have the best of both worlds, without feeling uncomfortable.

I've never understood this whole "not unique enough or too classic" thought process when it comes to names. 
If I like the name I'll choose the name, regardless or whether it's common or not.
If you like Thomas, go for it
