Comfort feeding and SIDS?

Question

My 1 month old son is always nursing, and often he will comfort nurse and nap on me during the day. I don't really mind other than it scares me that he might not be getting enough oxygen or be able to breathe properly as he is on his side rather than a flat hard mattress on his back.
Is it safe for him to always be on me/be held? Often times I can get him down in his bassinet but there are other times where he fights it more.

Contact naps aren’t a sids risk so I wouldn’t worry 😉 if you fell asleep like that, I’d be concerned, but if you’re awake, it should be fine.

Baby napping/sleeping on you is not a risk for baby unless you are also asleep.

I didn't start putting my daughter down for naps until 8 months honestly I enjoyed the cuddles way too much.

Baby is safer sleeping against you than they are in their crib bc you will notice if their breathing changes. Just make sure their head is tipped to the side not directly face planted on you

I would actually argue that contact naps are more protective against SIDS because baby has the extra sensory input from you. For example, when I notice my daughter hasn't taken a breath when I expect her to, I take a deep breath and that prompts her to breathe.
You're doing the best with the information you have. Being a new mommy is scary sometimes. 
The key here thigh is to not fall asleep sitting up when holding your baby. If you're that tired, just lay on the ground together or on a firm mattress. That is safer than falling asleep in a rocking chair or in a couch.
