Do I need to go to the family I am a surrogate for baby shower

The parents I am a surrogate for are having a baby shower. I just feel so sick and really don't want to go. Does the surrogate really need to be there? The point of a baby shower is to celebrate the new parents and help them with things for the baby. They're the parents. They will still be receiving the gifts and celebration so do I really need to be there?

If I were the family I would want you there. That being said if you told me you were feeling ill and would rather not. I would understand or maybe try and change the date so you may or may not feel better later. 
Just be honest. I'm sure they will understand.

I wouldn’t think so since it is for the parents and it’s mostly them opening up gifts, eating food and talking with family but, they may want you there since you are the reason they can celebrate . Your a big part of it . I would just ask them and see. However, if your sick I don’t think they would make you go
